There are three Midnight Star albums: "No Parking On The Dancefloor", "Planetary Invasion" and "Headlines" plus bonus tracks on a double CD Set. "No Parking On The Dance Floor" featured the two Smash R&B Hits "Freak-A-Zoid" and "Wet My Whistle" and the single "No Parking (On The Dancefloor)". The album was certified double Platinum in America. Originally released in 1984, "Planetary Invasion" includes the #1 R&B single "Operator" which topped the chart for an amazing five weeks. The album also featured the single "Body Snatchers". Finally, they include the album "Headlines", again packed with R&B Hits "Midas Touch" and "Headlines" (both Top 10 records). Also included is "Engine No.9" which just failed to crack the Top 10, stalling at #11. ‘Midas Touch’ also made the Top Ten in the U.K. This package features 7" versions of the hit singles as bonus tracks. Ruby & the Romantics have been poorly served by best-of collections, which are too brief and skimpy. This two-CD, 42-song set goes too far in the other direction, and not everything on here is exciting or worthy of multiple listens by any means. Still, too much is better than too little, and this does thoroughly cover the prime era of the original lineup at Kapp from 1963-1967. On the plus side, this convincingly demonstrates that there was more depth and quality than is commonly acknowledged to a group that is often remembered only for one song ("Our Day Will Come") or regarded as a lightweight pop-soul group.

This double-length set, not the "legendary" four-LP Carnegie Hall concert, is the one to get to hear what Chicago sounded like in their classic early period. In contrast to the Carnegie Hall show, where the band emphasized its precision to the point of deadening any excitement that might have been generated, here Chicago sounds upbeat and lively, bent on giving a good, exciting show and not on capturing a perfect performance. There are moments, as on the crescendo of "Dialogue," where the spirit outstrips the cleanness of the performance, but the group is so tight and forceful that one lets them slide by; at other times, as on "Beginnings," they're so smooth and lithe in their extension of the piece that one just wants to bask in it; and then they switch gears to the rougher, harder "Mississippi Delta City Blues," and make that work too. The whole performance is good, with a steady stream of worthwhile high points.

While the three other Con Funk Shun reissues from Cherry Red's Robinsongs division paired two albums, this one is a two-disc set that combines three of them: Touch (1980), Con Funk Shun 7 (1981), and To the Max (1982). For whatever reason, Spirit of Love (also 1980), the source of "Got to Be Enough," was left out of the series. These weren't among the band's best releases, though they did spawn hit singles like "Too Tight" and "Bad Lady," and the tremendous album cut "Love's Train." In addition to providing the albums in their entirety, there is a handful of bonus tracks, including the 12" versions of "Lady's Wild," "Body Lovers," and "Ms. Got the Body."

Lemon's 2013 two-fer combines the original Australian versions of two early albums by Little River Band: 1976's "After Hours" and 1977's "Diamantina Cocktail". These are respectively their 2nd and 3rd records, and on "After Hours", it's possible to hear how tentative Little River Band are. They flit between pub-friendly country-rock and sentimental folk, dabble in jazzy runs as they ramp up rock & roll rhythms ("Take Me Home"), pound home a horn-fueled pop/rocker in the vein of Chicago ("Everyday of My Life"), even stretch out into something that feels like inadvertent proto-prog ("Another Runaway," whose chorus uncannily mirrors that of Pink Floyd's later "Comfortably Numb"). Any hint of the well-known soft rock slickness that is missing on "After Hours" can be heard on "Diamantina Cocktail", which opens with their first big hit "Help Is on Its Way" and also includes "Happy Anniversary," two signs that they've moved toward their shiny signature.

There are three Whispers albums: "One For The Money", "Open Up Your Love" and "Headlights" on a double CD Set. The "One For The Money" album was originally released in 1976 on the Soul Train Label, and featured the R&B Top Ten Hit of the same name and the follow up single 'Living Together (In Sin)', which just missed the R&B Top Twenty. This package also includes the 7" versions of the tracks 'You're Only As Good As You Think You Are' and 'Sounds Like A Love Song' as bonus tracks on disc two. Following up the "One For The Money" album was the 1977 release "Open Up Your Love", also released on the Soul Train label. It kicked off with a soulful cover of Bread's 'Make It With You', which gave the group another R&B Top Ten Hit. Other stand out tracks on "Open Up Your Love" are 'Chocolate Girl' and 'I Fell In Love Last Night (At The Disco)'..The third album in this package is "Headlights" originally released in 1978 this time on Solar Records, Again, the album included a R&B Top Ten Hit '(Let's Go) All The Way' and, just missing out on the Top Ten, '(Olivia) Lost And Turned Out'.
